Recalbox detects updates after entering router SSID but says it's not connected, Kodi also not connected ?!
-
Hello everyone,
I entered the SSID and Wifi Key for the router on Recalbox and they are correct, the recalbox says there is an update available but it also says it's "Not Connected" in the "Status" section of the "Network Settings". In addition, it doesn't seem to connect to internet when I switch to Kodi, which is itself an app and not an OS so dependent on the wifi settings of Recalbox (correct me if I'm wrong). Anyone know how to solve this ?
I'd like to be able to fix this to:
- Download updates to Recalbox
- Download addons for Kodi's version coming with Recalbox.
Thanks a lot !

@Method there was a similar issue not too long ago. Can you try to ping archive.recalbox.com from your pi ? @pepe did a very nice job at solving this problem
Which recalbox version are you running ?

@Substring thanks for getting back to me on this, can you link to @Pepe's solution please ?
How can I ping from the Pi under Recalbox please ? I know my way around Raspbian but I have no clue on how to open a terminal in Recalbox lol.
I use v.4.0.1 of Recalbox.
Thanks !

@Method log in (through SSH or a local terminal) then
ping archive.recalbox.com
. You can even do it from your own PC too, the aim is to check if your ISP doesn't block the ping protocol -
I tried using another computer and got a indefinite series of :
Request timeout for icmp_seq 0
Request timeout for icmp_seq 1
Request timeout for icmp_seq 2
Request timeout for icmp_seq 3
Request timeout for icmp_seq 4
Request timeout for icmp_seq 5
Request timeout for icmp_seq 6
Request timeout for icmp_seq 7
Request timeout for icmp_seq 8
Request timeout for icmp_seq 9
Request timeout for icmp_seq 10
Request timeout for icmp_seq 11It would go on if I didn't close the terminal. Seems like indeed the site is blocked by my ISP ?! How do we go from there please ?

Can you try to ping from your computer now ?
-
@Method looks like ICMP is blocked either by your ISP either by your router
-
@godhunter74 This was with my computer not the Pi.
@Substring I'll check my router to see, but if it's not at the router level but at the ISP level there is no workaround ? -
@Method call your isp then

@Substring Ok but the Recalbox still does detect that there is an update available, so it does seem to connect to internet. If It can't download by not being able to connect to archive.recalbox.com that's ok I can download the updates manually.
What I really need is for the Kodi installation to be able to connect to the internet, the one coming with Recalbox. You mentioned a solution by @Pepe, do you have a link please ?
