Im trying to connect the PI ZERO with recalbox, but this message aways appear: WIFI CONFIGURATION ERROR. I tried to access config and the SSID and password are saved. But it doesnt connect and when I try to access the menu. I don´t know how else I can send ROMS or any other files without using the wifi. Im stucked !
Can someone help me ? The dongle is plug and play (auto install when plugged on my normal PC) and works fine with my normal internet.
Please enlight me

@dormonid I guess we don't have yet the linux drivers for your dongle. You shoul dcheck the output of the dmesg command and see if you find an error about loading a firmware
-
@Substring Thanks for your reply. How im supposed to do that? Im kinda noob at this.
-
@dormonid you need to open a terminal with a usb keyboard, press F4 to qui ES, then ALT+F2 to reach a local terminal. login with root/recalboxroot and type dmesg. You can use shift+ pageup/down to browse through the output

@Substring thanks. Im looking at the screen now...and there is a ton of messages... some of them says "warn:" in the beginning. but im still struggling to see something related to wifi.
-
@Substring I found an error message: mt7601u 1-1.1:1.0 Direct firmware load for mt7601u.bin failed with error -2. Probe of 1-1.1:0 failed with error -2

Im starting to lose hope... I switched the wifi dongle to a cisco ae1200 wifi usb adapter and the problem persist. In the case of this adapter, clearly the Pi Zero doesnt even read it (the lights remain off). I tried to load the memory card on the RPi2 in hope I could load the roms there and then insert the memory card again in the zero, but the recalbox has diferent versions for Pi1 and Pi2. This is frustrating to say the least.

Clutching at straws here, but what's the output of lsusb, from the command line?
-
@dormonid so, it says it's missing the firmware, you just need to add it (despite it's gonna be a little tricky as you don't have network hehehe). I would have loved to check if it's available on 4.1, but sadly forgot to turn my devices on before going to work this morning.
Regarding pi2/0, yeah the CPUs don't have the same instructions, so binaries are different and not compatible. You'd need a Pi1
Edit : https://github.com/raspberrypi/linux/issues/1090#issuecomment-130628097 to manually install it. But I guess it's going to be too hard for you.
-
@Substring Seems too hard for me indeed. I guess the only way is to wait for new versions then? Maybe older versions could do the job?
Or maybe finding an old Pi1 to configure and use the Pizero to play.
Im sorry for the bad english. I have zero programming skills.

@n1md4 I´m affraid I cannot provide this information. Can you be more specific, please?
-
@dormonid on a Pi 1 you should be able to do what you need to. An other alternative is that we add it to recalbox 4.1 and you wait until that moment. An other solution is to use a usb hub + usb key + usb keyboard
By the way, which controllers do you intend to use ?
-
@Substring What is an USB KEY? I intended to use Hori Fight Commander 4, or 8bitdo FC30 pro or a madcatz fight pad controller for xbox360. all of them already works on Rpi2.
-
@dormonid usb key or usb stick, that's the same thing
-
@Substring I borrored the Rpi1 of my dad´s and managed to move all the roms to the PiZero. Unfortunatelly this issue with the dongle can be very frustrating if someone doesnt have this option. Thanks for your help! All the USB controlers im using so far worked perfectly.
