Midi files play
-
Hi,
this is my first post so introductions are required.
I'm Jorge and I am from Portugal. I am old enough ( 46 almost ) to remember arcade cabinets such as arkanoid and galaga in game rooms.
I'm trying to get an old cabinet to work and my choice of "OS" is Recalbox. Amongst other things due to it's simplicity to install/run ( getting too old for messing with config files ).
Got a somewhat old pc and got Recalbox running and basically it's ready to into the cabinet. But I have 3 questions ( two of which didn't find the answer here, I think ) :1 - When I add .mid files into the music folder they get recognized, get the popup in top right corner saying the music is playing but I get no audio.
2 - When I record a video there is no sound. Is this normal or what do I need to do?
3 - Although it's not the right place to ask but since I'm typing... How hard is it to rewire a dport or vga output to the cabinets monitor?
Best regards,

@widowmakerpt Hi, do you get ANY audio, even when playing a game ?
It sounds as if the audio output device needs to be changed - I had to change it on my PC to get any sound out of the tv. -
@rustymg thank you for replying.
The pc has a small internal speaker. And the games and in menu I have sound. Even adding mp3 files to the folders get played well.
Only "but" is really the no sound for midi files. I assume they are being played but veryvery low or geting output to wrong place

1 - When I add .mid files into the music folder they get recognized, get the popup in top right corner saying the music is playing but I get no audio.
Did you read the readme file that exists inside the music folder?
I'll paste the information here, pay attention to the last part:
Place your music files here to replace default background music in EmulationStation. Supported formats: - OGG (*.ogg) - OGG OPUS (*.opus) - MP3 (*.mp3) - FLAC (*.flac) - WAVE (*.wav) - Modules (*.mod *.s3m *.xm *.it *.669 *.apun *.dsm *.far *.amf *.gdm *.imf *.med *.mtm *.okt *.stm *.stx *.ult *.uni) - MIDI files (*.mid *.midi) Beware: For MIDI file, there is *NO* default soundfont installed. You must install a soundfont (named soundfont.sf2) in this folder. Some websites where to download soundfonts: - Generic: http://timtechsoftware.com/uploads/GeneralUser_GS_SoftSynth_v144.sf2 - Minmalist: https://musical-artifacts.com/artifacts/713 - Collections & game-related soundfonts: https://musical-artifacts.com/artifacts?formats=sf2

2 - When I record a video there is no sound. Is this normal or what do I need to do?
Honestly I'm not sure, I've never used this function and few users use it.
