Recalbox 8.0.2 RPI4 no HDMI sound
-
@alvin I tried both hdmi outputs
Thanks for the hint, but it did not change anything while changing the hdmi output -
@nbarth78 hello
in the ES menu, the HDMI output is selected ? does it appear in the sound menu ? -
@scavy
Thanks for your answer
No it is not shown, I explained it in my original post-> in recalbox UI, I am not able to switch from "jack" to "HDMI" (HDMI is not shown)

@nbarth78
So i guess there might be a problem :- with the hdmi input (in your screen) or
- with the hdmi output (from your Pi) or
- the hdmi cable may be damaged.
Could you check them ?

@scavy
The problem appeared after upgrading to 8.0.0, 8.0.1 and 8.0.2
Before I had sound through HDMI and the hdmi was alteady not shown.
But ok, I will check what you propose and keep this thread updated -
@nbarth78
One Question that comes to my Mind:
What kind of TV/Monitor did you use ?
Full HD, 4K or something else ?
Maybe Recalbox got some Problems with the EDID https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Extended_Display_Identification_Data
send by your TV/Monitor ?Have you tried to reset your Recalbox to "Factory Settings" ?

on all these versions, the hdmi output appears at home, there's a problem. Could you post an archive support please ?

(translate the archive support part) -
@scavy
I checked again the HDMI connections and after unplugging, plugging again it worked.
So thank you for your help -
@nbarth78 there may be a bad contact somewhere. Anyway, when plugged correctly the hdmi is detected Great it works

I’ve experienced the “missing HDMI” option when my TV is turned off (or perhaps on the wrong input??) while the Recalbox is booting. Not sure on the exact timing but it’s definitely fixable 100% of the time if the TV is turned on first.
I didn’t used to have this issue before 8.x series Recalbox so not sure what may have changed in I guess the RPi firmware or perhaps the Linux kernel side. I suspect the hdmi_forceplug or one of those boot options will fix the issue but I no longer use HDMI so can’t test.
Heck, you could even use a boot option to lock-in HDMI as the only audio choice if you don’t care about easy access to the audio jack functionality!
