Power Button Problem
-
Hi guys I am having an issue getting the power button to turn the Pi4 back on.
I am running the latest version of Recalbox 7.2.2 on a 512 SSD .
I have the button plugged into GPIO 5&6 and recalbox.config edited properly(system.power.switch=PIN56PUSH). It shuts down just fine but wont power back up. One thing I noticed when I power off with the button or from the Recalbox menu is that the red light on the Pi4 goes off as well, so the Pi4 is completely shut down, compared to when I am running Raspbian on my SD card in the same Pi4 on/off works perfect but the red light stays on when I shut down the Pi4. I also get a weird message in the top right corner of the screen when I shut down Recalbox. It starts with a random number in brackets like this: [ 43.1254321] reboot: Power Down, cant find any info on what this means online Any ideas? Thanks -
@rastaman1201 Are you using a Nespi4case?
If yes, read this:

Hi Zing, thanks for the reply! I dont have a Nespi4case, but the article gave me some ideas on what to try next. I put Recalbox 7.2.2 on a 512 Samsung Evo SD card, thinking since it wasnt an SSD maybe that would fix the problem, but still have the same issue with the SD card. I am going to read through the article again tonight see if there is something else to try.I do have the pi-power-button script installed based on this guide: (https://howchoo.com/g/mwnlytk3zmm/how-to-add-a-power-button-to-your-raspberry-pi) and I dont know if that could be conflicting with Recalbox or not? But I do know it worked for Retropie just fine. So I tried uninstalling pi-power-button script but the problem was still there. Not sure what to try next. I appreciate the help!

@rastaman1201 The official tutorial is this one, see if you've done something different:

Yeah, I have looked over that guide several times already and can't find anything that I did differently than what it says to do.Could it be the Pi4 updates conflicting with something?

Could it be the Pi4 updates conflicting with something?
No, this is very unlikely.
Most likely, you're either doing some wrong manipulation, or, you have a hardware problem (did you measure the button with a multimeter? Are you using the right type of button?)

I got it to work! I re-installed Recalbox 7.2.2 again and re-added all the content and it works now. No idea why. Thanks for trying to help me figure this whole thing out, I really appreciate it!
