I was trying to set up a vpn inside kodi. But i seem to get stuck. Don't know what recalbox is based on. Is it openelec or raspbian (don't know what others are around). Maybe it is better if some one can write an how to for setting up a vpn in kodi (from recalbox). Thanks!

@klen-ghost Hi. Just out of curiousity, did you get this working? I have had a similar issue with my build (non-Recal os).

The way I have worked around it was to install openvpn on Raspian, then OpenVpn on Kodi. The issue that causes is that my key and controllers are stuck and would need to unplug and replug to get them working again.

          Steps I have done:
in Console - apt-get install openvpn
then kodi install openvpn and add settings

I have tried installing VPN Manager for openvpn and unfortunately does not work.
Tried shelling out and did not recognise -apt anyway.

I have asked the writer of vpn manager for openvpn to see if there is a workaround or not. I love recalbox compared to other images.

E.g Reys 128gb image, if you dont have a controller plugged in it wont load up. I mainly have mine unplugged and use cec with tv remote for kodi. I add subtitles to recalbox kodi version and other addons with no issues at all. Just need to get vpn working, as I have a paid service and may as well use it for this as well. Any help would be appreciated .

No vpn nor torrent clients, and don't expect we add one of them.

No out-of-the-box solution seems to be available and i think you won't find it anytime soon. but you can always check out stuff over kodi's forum and reddit because you have a better chance of getting answered there. i personally made ivacy vpn work on OE Kodi but i haven't tried it on recalbox. most of the tuts out there seem to be on Raspian though. happy googling.

Setting up a VPN for Kodi is a pretty technical procedure. I myself got it installed from the place where I purchased it. Moreover, OpenElec is a part of Linux, so in my humble guess, if you can find Kodi VPN setting for Linux, I think it would be quite similar to it.

the important question is that why i should use vpn for kodi? so my dear there are many addons which are still block on kodi due to regional restrictions and this restrictions can be unblock only with kodi. However here is a detail resource that i love a lot for the best kodi guide.

I highly doubt these freaking VPNs because of their policies and log keeping. But the only thing which makes me use a VPN is my favorite content on KODI, obviously cannot really compromise that. So I make sure I use the best vpn for kodi, to get flawless streaming and minimal log keeping.

                                        1. First download WinSCP & OpenVPN Files

                                        2. Now create a new text file pass.txt on your dekstop and insert VPN Username and password. Username in first line and password in second line.

                                        3. Now open downloaded OVPN File and edit the following lines.

                                          tls-auth to tls-auth /storage/.config/Wdc.key 1
                                          ca ca.crt to ca /storage/.config/ca.crt
                                          auth-user-pass to auth-user-pass /storage/.config/pass.txt

4.Your OVPN files should look like this, save it.
                                        Regards
