Update to 7.2 --> no sound
-
So here it is, 7.2... It screwed my sound over JACK. I changed from HDMI to JACK in ES and have sound in the menu now. But playing Mame/NeoGeo Games (i haven't tried all systems so far), I have no sound.
But the sound works with GameBoy, for example. Is there a way to change the audio-output within an emulator? i think the sound may be set to hdmi (tv is connected via hdmi, but the sound should be JACK, because this is the set up of my arcade cabinet) -
@neo207 Same problem.
-
@Salva_Davila
Okay, then it could be a bug that concerns more people and we can hope that someone from the team will read this. -
@neo207 same for me. Rpi4 over hdmi music sounds in recalbox menu but no sound in games.
-
For any sound issue, try the new reset factory setting
-
@Pitch64 what will be reseted? so what will I have to configure again because i have a lot of custom mappings for different games and so on
-
It restores at the same state than when you did a fresh install. It avoids only to reinstall all your games/bios/saves again
-
@neo207 Think about it. I have lost the language settings, wifi, gpio, shaders, etc, and in my case, the sound still does not work. Neither changing the driver to pulse as they say in another post.
Edit: Ok, after a reboot the sound does work when choosing "pulse" in the retroarch audio menu (tab or HK + B).
-
There is something disturbing me.... Why anyone needed to choose the audio driver output? It was not working on previous versions that you needed to specify in in RetroArch options? If you never modified this option, you'll never get this issue...
-
@Pitch64 i haven't changed the output or whatever. I was just asking if this could solve the problem. But now i will try choosing "pulse", if it worked for Salva_Davila
-
@Pitch64 Yes, I never had that problem in 7.1 or earlier. Something has changed in 7.2. Anyway the sound works, but it comes out very low. You have to also raise the level in the retroarch menu.
-
@Salva_Davila i tried but saving the configuration doesn't help. when i restart retroarch, I have "alsa" or whatever the standard output is called.
I also notice that the splash screen has no sound. So I only have sound in the recalbox menu, in kodi and in several systems like SMS; N64; GB; ... but definetely no sound in NeoGeo or MAME.I mean there must be an option or a line in the config that could be changed to JACK (instead of hdmi), is it that difficult for the developers to tell me where to look at?
would be great not to downgrade to 7.1., which would mean i have to format my drive and so on
-
@neo207 In recalbox.conf in 7.1 yes, but in 7.2 it is assigned as "analog-output", which I assume replaces "jack".
------------ C - Audio ------------
Set the audio device (auto, hdmi, jack)
audio.device=alsa_card.1:analog-output
I have sound on the splash screen, although much lower than in 7.1.

@Salva_Davila said in Update to 7.2 --> no sound:

We added PulseAudio, which is used between the sound output and Alsa, for a better sound management.
-
@Salva_Davila can you explain how to choose pulse and save? i save the configuration, it shows a splash screen that it is saved as retroarchconfigcustom or sth. like that. but a reboot or restart of retroarch shows alsa instead of pulse again.
-
retroarchconfigcustom.cfg:
audio_device = ""
audio_driver = "pulse"
audio_dsp_plugin = ""
audio_enable = "true"
audio_enable_menu = "false"(but in-game, when I check the options, it still says alsa instead of pulse)
recalbox config file:
------------ C - Audio ------------
Set the audio device (auto, hdmi, jack)
audio.device=alsa_card.0:analog-output
(i changed the 0 to a 1 but after a reboot i had hdmi in the recalbox menu... so i changed it to analog in the recalbox menu and looking into the config file, it has a 0 instead of a 1 again...)
ANY HELP?

oh great news - this ####### up update screwed KODI too! I have black screen for all videos and sound only. GREAT, thanks.
i am really p**sed in case you missed it

-
@neo207 I changed it in the retroarch menu in a game. In "video". And then I saved core settings.

I have no sound after update. In recalbox menu a i have sound, but in game no sound. I use hdmi output, someone with same problem?. Some workaround for fix it?
Thanks.
