How to fix emulator lag

So I'm trying to play paper Mario but it lags badly during battles and completely crashes at some points. I have tried all emulators but none fixes the problem. Is there a fix for that?

@hiddenworlds225 what board? Default emulator and core? Have you tried other emulator/core combination? Overclocked? Proper power supply (no lightning icon or such)?

Pi 3, i've tried every combination but it either lags heavily or crashes. But power is good. Mupen64 with rice does Ok. Still too much lag.
