No rom launches on a fresh Recalbox 18.07.13 PC install

Hi there,
I've just installed Recalbox 18.07.13 on an old Acer Aspire 5715z laptop.
The install went just fine, I've got the EmulationStation interface working perfectly well and diplaying the demos, except that no game launches. When I try to start a game, I get a black (or white, depends on the console) screen for 10 or 15 seconds and then, most of the time I'm sent back to the EmulationStation menu. The other times, my PC freezes, the hotkey doesn't work out anymore and I have to power the computer off manually. I've tried with every single demo game of each available console, I've tried other games I put over ssh (all with the right extensions of course), some on other consoles that are not part of the demo sample as well, and it's the same everywhere: no game is working. Now, I understand that I can't run GameCube games on my machine as my graphic card is too old. And I know there are issues with PlayStation (&co.) bioses, so I preventively put them in the right directories. Apart from that, I can't figure out what's happening; it seems I have installed Recalbox without any emulator.
I've already tried all the tricks I found over the forums: I re-installed from scratch three times, I edited the configuration file to set the global video mode to default, I erased some retroarch configuration files... Nothing's seemed to work so far. I also tried an external VGA monitor to make sure it wasn't a random video resolution bug; there the screen was blue and not black or white, but it didn't solve the problem.
Anybody's got an idea of what's happening or have tips to propose ?
Thanks all

@phaenix360 I think with this laptop you're using the 32-bit version, right? I can not guarantee but, I believe that if with the 32bit version, even reinstalling did not work, then there may be an incompatibility of some driver, possibly the video card driver.
Unfortunately, Recalbox is not compatible with all devices, although it is compatible with most.
I know that the next version is expected to be more compatible, but I do not know when it will be released, nor can I guarantee that this is your problem.
Before formatting a computer to install Recalbox, it is best to install only on a pendrive and test if the system is compatible with the hardware.
