Megadrive Stopped Working
-
Hi,
Until the latest update I’ve been successfully playing Megadrive games using .smd files and the default emulator. But that has changed and no .smd files will now load.
Is this a known issue with recalbox?

Perhaps I should qualify that - I'm using the latest stable with latest updates on an RPi3...

@jetbootjack try to change emulator
-
I have tried - I see no loading with either the pico drive or genesisplusgx cores.
Sega CD works fine, just regular .smd format cart images won’t load

gamelist corrupted ?
-
@jetbootjack Hi,
I had only .md roms, so in order to test I converted a rom to .smd format with a tool called "SBWin". The result is it works successfully! Of course with the latest stable version of Recalbox, RPI3, with both cores.
According to @acris advice, please make the following test:
- Stop Emulation Station (or Recalbox)
- Rename the
gamelist.xml
file in the megadrive folder togamelist.xml.old
- Restart Emulation Station (or Recalbox)
Does it work ?

Thanks, I did as you suggested and had some "results" - but not what i expected. So I had a look at my setup further - and this is what I found.
I have a library of .gen .smd and .bin Megadrive games.
The ROM's work in Open Emu and Retroarch on my MacBook Pro. They also all work on PC in Retroarch and standalone medafen emulators - where I launch thru launchbox.
None of my .gen files work in recalbox.
Most of my .smd files work in recalbox.
Some of my .bin files work in recalbox.
So I am - slightly confused, but glad of the feedback as I has made me look at my data.
