bug report: Dreamcast (Reicast) hotkey exists directly the game
-
@rockaddicted it's a weird and inconsistent behaviour. And doesn't Reicast support screenshots?
-
@marcdk nope
-
@rockaddicted But I can make screenshots from the recalbox manager (web frontend). Obviously it does support screenshots.
-
@marcdk do you really think the only way to make a screenshot is to ask the emulator to do it ? What about capturing what's in the GPU memory ? Do you really think we are that stupid and you feel smart trying to teach us anything ? You've been saying quite some nonsense for weeks, this really starts to exhausting
-
Dreamcast emulation on Rpi is in a beta stage, a lot of games don't run properly or at constant full speed.
I don't see the point of 2 key shortcut (wich is not coded in the emulator), nor in a screenshot feature, even more if you can take one with the web frontend like you did.so... i don't get the point of your post.
-
"What about capturing what's in the GPU memory ?"
And why don't you set the shortcut to the same function which takes screenshots in Recalbox manager?
And what is your problem? Batocera has this already fixed. And since I care for recalbox and prefer it over batocera I would like to see all the good things it does right in my preferred retro os.
The answer of your community guy was OK. Even if you don't plan to implement it I see that someone at least thought about it. Don't make this personal. I really only want to help to male recalbox better.
-
lol
Why is it so important to take a screenshot of an emulator who don't even run flawlessly ?
if batocera is better because of this feature, ... -
Hey, you guys. Don't take it personally! I think we have a missunderstanding here. I just trying to find out if it is technically possible. If you don't want to implement it is ok. I thought it would be ok to at least ask why.
PS.: For me it is. I often write about games and everything related. I take screenshots of game I write about. Even if they don't work without problem. Sometimes this is part of the idea for the article like in the case of the odroid vs rpi3.

I just tested out the Dreamcast emulator and also noticed the home button/hotkey was exiting the game.
-
@eb2016 yes and it is not a bug, bug the normal behavior with this emulator.
-
Is there a way to change it? Seems a bit risky if you accidentally b*mp that home button that you'll exit your game.
-
@eb2016 be careful and that should be ok
-
@rockaddicted Not to sound overbearing on the issue but merely being careful probably isn't the best way. The home button is right in the middle of the controller and common to b*mp and seeing as most people don't stare at their controller while playing games, it'll be an annoying fault for people playing Dreamcast.
-
@eb2016 dude do a patch and a merge request, we'll be happy to merge it.
Don't have time to work on this kind of "cosmetic" feature for the moment. -
@eb2016 most people don't get overexcited and kick a button by mistake which is not all near the ones used for playing.
It never happened to me to click the hotkeybutton by mistake on a xbox360 or ps3 controller, I don't see how it would even be possible while playing, I woukd have to lift my fingers from the buttons I use in play, move one of them right to the middle of the controller and press.
-
@voljega I'm curious to as why all the other systems have the exit set up as an 2 button combo then.
-
@eb2016 not all of them and because the ones which have that feature are libretro cores, but reicast isn't.
-
@voljega said in bug report: Dreamcast (Reicast) hotkey exists directly the game:
@eb2016 not all of them and because the ones which have that feature are libretro cores, but reicast isn't.
Indeed 95% of systems are emulated with retroarch which has the combo hotkey+keys sortcuts feature.
Other systems are emulated by standalone emulator which in most of the cases don't have this feature.
In the best case we can map a gamepad button to exit, but often we can't and the only way to do it using a keyboard...
Si that needs to patch, rewrite the source code of each emulator (if possible) to manage the hotkey feature.
That requires, programming skills, time, tests and time.
