I tried this and I do get a pairing, but with all the issues described by @SkySlicer
PSX games completely unplayable. Any other ideas? Anyone get a fix yet??

sound strange as all works fine on my pi4.
Try 'reset factory' but you will lost some custum settings

Hi, I reset to factory, still not working. Same issues, it pairs and works in menus, but does not function in game. Have you tried to play any games (psx, megadrive) with the pro+ in 7.2?

Yes, I reconfigured controller after the successful pairing. Works fine with menus, but not games- some buttons work, others do not depending on the system.

Same problem here: Controller pairs, but not working on Pi 3 B+. Other BT controllers work.

Some question off-topic: How can I disable system „Ports“ on Recalbox 7.2? Already disabled „show included games“, but Ports will remain. Also when deleting those games from file system...

OK, my 8bitdo SN30 pro+ seems to be working now with an additional step, summary of actions:

1. downgrade firmware to v4.01
2. reset to factory settings (may not have to)
3. change driver from automatic to "system"
4. choose B+Start (Android pairing mode)
5. once paired, config controller
6. Select the SN30 pro+ as controller 1 (and unplug the controller/keyboard used in pairing)
   Once I completed all these steps, it started working. THANK YOU for all the help!!!!

I had to pair mine after the update, but it works, no other issues discovered with the SN30 pro+.

Sorry, I was confused with the model name too. I got the SF30 Pro (non +). It seems to be technically the same as SN30 Pro (non +).
Anyway, as mentioned before, I got problem the controller pairs but is not working at all - not even in ES/menu. I'm on latest firmware 1.34. Further not tried too much changing controller mode. It worked fine in "Switch mode" with Recalbox 7.1.1 and before.

Further one nice feature is, the controller switches off automatically when shutting down Recalbox when in "Switch mode", so I won't try again other modes at all as far as it might not necessary. In worst case I will restore my backup of Recalbox 7.1.1.

Anyway, thanks to developers for new version and the hard work!

I am new to all of this, is there a place I can download version 7.1.1 again. I dont have a backup of it that I know of. I will for the versions in the future.

As far as I know, old versions are always replaced when new ones released. I recommend to backup whole SD card with a disk imaging tool before doing an update.

Unfortunately this does not help for SF30 pro, as it pairs in general, but on the other hand Recalbox (even ES/menu) will not react in any way then.
Also controller setup will not find the controller even though it‘s paired, no button configuration possible too.

After restore of Recalbox 7.1.1, my SF30 pro controller works fine again, as expected.

Update:
After a fresh install of 7.2, and my 8bitdo controllers work fine in B_Start mode in the main menu's but when I go to any game I have to turn off the controllers and then turn them on again to pair them. After that they will work in the games. The Hotkey does cycle through the shaders. I found an almost identical issue in the forums for version 7.0.1.

No one else having described troubles with Pi3 B+ and SN/SF30 pro (non+ version: https://www.8bitdo.com/sn30pro-sf30pro/)? Could it be just because of updating from 7.1.1 to 7.2? May a fresh install of 7.2 help?

Known issues with SN30 pro, SF30 pro and SN30 pro + pads. It concerns firmwares of these pads.
Here are the right firmware to use (tested et approved by beta-testers) :
Appairing in android mode START + B :
SN30 Pro -> firmware v1.33
SN30 Pro + -> firmware v4.01
SF30 Pro -> firmware v1.33
Last firmware updates don't work fine. A fix is in progress.

@Scavy Thank you very much for info, great news that there's a fix coming up. Haven't seen any note in changelog, so I was not sure so far.

Do you know if controllers turn off automatically too when shutting down recalbox, when in Andtroid-mode?
Normally I always use 8bitdo controllers in Switch-mode, as I really appreciate this behaviour not having to turn off the controller separately
If not, I will wait for the RB fix and/or 8bitdo fix instead of downgrading my controllers. Everything I need is running fine in 7.1.1
