[Theme] Clean Retro
-
I just tried 65 systems with the theme on Odroid XU4 and it works flawlessly.
RPI3B+ needs a fix.
-
ES Always loaded all themes. This is not a "New" issue, it's a matter of total system count in only 1gb of memory. We already tried to adjust the CPU/GPU balance, but we can't do much more.
-
@bkg2k you can load current system and its nearest 4 neighbours and on moving to next / previous, unload farest system and load new closest one
For instance id if I currently see system D and the list of systems is A B C D E F G, only B C D E F are in memory.
On moving from D to the right on E, B is unloaded and G is loaded, only keeping C D E F G in memory -
We're thinking about an intelligent cache system since month, but it's not that simple.
And for sure, we'll have people complaining about laggy and/or delayed loads. -
@bkg2k if you load enough neighbours (might be 7 or 9) there won't be visible delayed load.
Lagging maybe but with correct multithreading i guess it shouldn't

I understand how discouraging it must be to develop on the RPI3 B+, at least it works with the Recalbox theme. As an artist/designer there's no way I'll concede 1080p backgrounds. That being said, understanding the RPI3 limitations, I'll just abandon support for the RPI3.
Can a moderator edit this topic and write that this theme is compatible with the latest version of RB on Odroid XU4 only.
Otherwise when RB will be supported on the RPI4, the theme will work.
*Also as I said before the latest version of this theme is available on Github only. Please don't ask me for the link, forbidden here.
Thanks.

If a moderator would like to update the theme description to add these informations. Thanks
Compatibility
This theme is only compatible with:
- Recalbox Odroid XU4 (odroidxu4)
- Recalbox Odroid C2 (odroidc2)
- Recalbox PC 64 bits (x86_64)
- Recalbox PC 32 bits (x86)
Incompatible or unstable:
- Recalbox Raspberry Pi 1 / Pi 0 (rpi1/rpi0)
- Recalbox Raspberry Pi 2 (rpi2)
- Recalbox Raspberry Pi 3 / 3 B+ (rpi3)
- RetroPie Raspberry Pi 0/1
- RetroPie Raspberry Pi 2/3
Note: The theme will load on any Recalbox Raspberry Pi versions but will be unstable. The vram on the RPI is too limited and once it's filled theme images won't be able to load so you'll have white blank images instead. You'll also experience the issue where you can't load ES after exiting a game. The theme may work on Raspberry Pi if you're using 5 systems or less. Retropie won't load the theme as it's using a different XML theming architecture.

Use this theme:
https://github.com/Emulga/recalbox-theme-emulga-box
I think is the spiritual successor of clean theme for recalbox.
