Testers wanted: major system upgrade (Pi3b+, KODI 17 and much more ...)

@substring Hello substring, i'm just trying to install the recalbox on my raspberry Pi 3 B+ for 15 days without success...i'm desesperate !!!
I discovered your tutorial but i've got a problem, the We transfer Pi3/cm3/pi3b+ img link is no more availlable, and after reading all the posts of the 15 last days i access, i did not find the link. Is is possible to reactivate it. i found differents files types of recalbox 4.000 beta 6 but each time i expand files and copy them on the sd card, the start screen of the rpi3pb+ stay rainbow colored...So perhaps with image files it will work... Thank you for your answer

@cedrickm Find the beta here : https://mab.to/iNoBCIih0
Then flash it on your sd with Echter or Win32DiskImager , not just copy it. -
@franc-boisier I tried again yesterday, but nothing works, someone has an idea?

Direct download links updated on 1st post

Recalbox warns you when an update is available. However, it is true that it would be nice to know the version of the proposed image ...

@gaetan Thank you so much for your answer Gaetan, it is the first time for 2 weeks i manage to see the screen of recalbox on my RPi3B+ !!. Just two questions. As i 'm working with 3B+ version, is it possible to update the recalbox version to the last one ( normally i've readen it doesn't work...).Why when i strictly follow the recalbox tutorial (unpack the 4.000 beta 6 version) and copy the extracted files in the root of my sd card, it doesn't work). Because they say copy and no flash. That's why i've asked for help to obtain an image file. In the image you gave me, which version of recalbox it is ? I thank you for your answers and your patience, i'm novice as you can see, but i want to understand my mistakes.

@cedrickm No problem
Yes, you can update your Recalbox to the last version following thos instruction :You need to edit your recalbox.conf and set updates.type to:
https://review-507-b*mp-b-0jn0c0-archive-review-prod.recalbox.com
and then reboot

@gaetan Hello thnk you for your answer, but i need some explanations, what do you mean by "You need to edit your recalbox.conf and set updates.type to:
https://review-507-b*mp-b-0jn0c0-archive-review-prod.recalbox.com
"
Thank you -
@oyyodams
Noticed the checksum is different from beta2 full image so thought maybe it's a new beta3 full image. Decided to give it a try but it's dated the same 8/23/2018 and still have issues with atarist roms no longer working. Looked into it some more and the roms that no longer work are .ipf extension. Tried a .st rom and it worked so the issue seems to be restricted to .ipf only. Have proper tos.img BIOS installed, es_systems.cfg reference extensions .ipf .IPF and required capsimage library files are present. Anyone have any suggestions on what else I can check? -
My version: "RB EMULATIONSTATION V 507-B*MP-BUI (86B655AC) 28480032 RPI3 2018/08/22 22:54:50"
My errors:
- the unstable wifi connection mentioned by user wilfrid.
- when I update the gamelist, it hangs somehow at the end of the process. When I reboot or switch off from recalbox, it hangs almost always and then I have to do soft reset or soft switch off by using a raspberry pi app from my smartphone that sends a reboot or shutdown signal.
- when I copy a snes rom through samba network and reboot raspberry using my app, then I lose all the scrapped info of snes and I just see the list of roms with no artwork or infos. It's tedious to scrap again and again, so I don't scrap anymore. I didn't have this problem with other systems, maybe it has been a random situation of corrupt copy through samba network...
- when I enter a rom and I get the "zoom in" effect in the artwork image in emulationstation, I can barely see a tiny delay in the movement of the image a couple of times, so maybe the graphics of new 3b+ still doesn't have the 100% optimized driver, just like the wifi.
- when it is idle in emulationstation menus, it reaches 66ºC after a while (room temp about 25ºC). When I check via ssh the top command, the only process consuming cpu is emulationstation (9%). The raspberry is just connected via hdmi to a full hd 1920x1080p 22" tv and a buffalo snes pad.
My custom changes:
- I manually disabled with chmod -x some services that I don't need from /etc/init.d: S02splash, S24lircdmod S25hyperion S25lircd S31sixad S32bluetooth S92steamcontroller S92virtualgamepads
- I enabled custom shaders for the roms
Thanks to all people putting effort on this release!
-
I disabled both the recalbox web manager and kodi from the corresponding emulation station menu options, and now it is working better. I think the recalbox web manager was colliding with the stopped virtual gamepad service. Now temp seems to stay at 62ºC when idle, and emulationstation stays on 5% cpu use. The "zoom" effect when entering a rom seems to be more fluent now.

@gaetan Hello Gaetan, I've tried lots of ways of making updates with your message, and i 've been forced to format my sd card after each updates. When i listen creators speaking about the Recalbox speaking of the way to make easier the access to such programs, it mahes me dream...
-
@cedrickm You need to acces to the Webmanager
https://github.com/recalbox/recalbox-os/wiki/recalbox-manager-WEB-interface-(FR)
Then go to recalbox.confThen find the line :
updates.type=stableand change it to :
updates.type=https://review-507-b*mp-b-0jn0c0-archive-review-prod.recalbox.comHit save button
Restart -
@gaetan Thank you for your answer Gaetan, when i do that, and run the update, i've got a message : "an error occured - update downloaded".
-
@cedrickm check if you have an "/" after the line.
And so delete it. -
Hi,
I'am on ""RB EMULATIONSTATION V 507-B*MP-BUI (FAFBA916) 28566561 X86_64 2018/08/23 22:32:26" and after setting updates.type=https://review-507-b*mp-b-0jn0c0-archive-review-prod.recalbox.com in recalbox.conf i'm unable to update, in recalbox.log i've this message :[ 186.04] ------------ Will process to a https://review-507-b*mp-b-0jn0c0-archive-review-prod.recalbox.com upgrade ------------
[ 186.15] Unable to get headers for http://archive.recalbox.com/updates/v1.0/https://review-507-b*mp-b-0jn0c0-archive-review-prod.recalbox.com/x86_64/boot.tar.xzAnd I've double check : in recalbox.conf i've this line updates.type=https://review-507-b*mp-b-0jn0c0-archive-review-prod.recalbox.com
Problem similar if setting updates.type to https://review-master-slwsz0-archive-review-prod.recalbox.com

No sound on HDMI output until I unmute SPDIF on alsamixer (
TERM=xterm alsamixer
). -
@janbaunooo maybe you still have enabled the standard update line? check if you still have this line:
updates.type=stable
and if so, then put a # as the first char of the line, to comment it out:
#updates.type=stableBy the way, I think the version you have is already the last one, so you won't get any update at this moment anyway.
-
@tonificante I've checked and there are no other updates.type line.
I have a doubt about my test procedure: because it was more convenient, no need to restart with each change, I assumed that executing the /recalbox/scripts/recalbox-upgrade.sh script was doing the same thing as the automatic update check ... but by reading the script content, I don't see how it could work by specifying a URL instead of the update type.@Substring Thanks for your works, outputs by HDMI work well now on my hardware
