    • RE: Connection Manager generates empty resolv.conf at boot, breaks cheevos

@substring I've been trying some more, let me explain the problem better:

Typing in /usr/bin/connmanctl config ethernet_b827ebba8c1e_cable --ipv4 manual [IP] [netmask] [gateway] --nameservers 208.67.222.222 TWICE through the command line works (one changes the ip and the second time seems to get the nameserver to resolve properly) works, but when i put it in my /etc/init.d/S99custom file after #!/bin/bash it seems to ignore the nameserver part, as it does assign the IP properly but it will not resolve.

edit: i've just tried putting in that command twice in my file, with sleep 5s in between but nope, it doesn't care i have to ssh every time to get the nameserver to work. and the file is being run fine on boot because i put in a touch command just to make sure it wasn't my fault setting this up.

so to recap: after rebooting my machine with the custom file written like this:

      #!/bin/bash
/usr/bin/connmanctl config ethernet_b827ebba8c1e_cable --ipv4 manual [IP] [netmask] [gateway] --nameservers 208.67.222.222
      sleep 5s
/usr/bin/connmanctl config ethernet_b827ebba8c1e_cable --ipv4 manual [IP] [netmask] [gateway] --nameservers 208.67.222.222

... breaks the nameserver, and SSHing into the machine (which has the IP address i gave it with connmanctl properly set, so it's not entirely ignoring me) then running nslookup google.com returns 127.0.0.1 as the nameserver (????????).

oh yeah, and also, if i put the aforementioned command in the custom file just once it also doesn't work. that's why I started experimenting with maybe putting it twice.

THEN over ssh if I run the conmanctl command that i've put in the custom file, that's when it resolves nslookup perfectly and the achievements work.

i'm confused as f**k right now

and yeah i kinda have gateway problems that's why i set everything manually, but everything i have works after i've set static ip addresses.

    • Connection Manager generates empty resolv.conf at boot, breaks cheevos

      Hi,

I'm running recalbox 4.1 with manual IP settings. I've got them written in a custom.sh file using connmanctl commands as written in the wiki.

My problem is that regardless of me manually editing /etc/resolv.conf with opendns nameservers then running ifdown eth0 && ifup eth0, the system will ignore this and rewrite an empty resolv.conf file, which I've noticed breaks retroachievements/cheevos support. It's a major nag to have to log into the system every time over SSH to fix this, so there must be a better solution that I haven't found. I've never used this connman thing so it's quite confusing, am I missing something?

      Thanks in advance.

    • RE: where to put gamelist.xml?

I managed to restore the gamelists from an old backup and at least now i can get to the games listed on the old gamelists, but when I try to update them it simply ignores the files present in the sd card. Sorry but this seems like a bug and I simply can't get it to update. the es log simply says it pa**es the XML files but it doesn't seem to look for the rom files in the card.

    • where to put gamelist.xml?

I accidentally deleted the gamelist.xml files and I can't get recalbox to rescan my rom folders. I formed a new gamelist.xml for all my systems over the network using a windows-based scraper, but then I can't get recalbox to read this file.

I've put it in the roms folder, in the share folder and others but it will simply ignore it. Where should I put it so it actually reads the d*mn file?

In the ES github I've found that it goes into [SYSTEM_PATH]/gamelist.xml but I don't know the folder this variable is referencing to. I'm certain the file was properly generated because I've seen the rom files that are actually in said folders as it was generating the gamelist.

    • No Stereo sound on Recalbox 4.0

      Thread title.

I used to have stereo sound when I installed the distro, but it misteriously disappeared. I use the 3.5mm jack and I've probed my cable and the audio output on the board with a tester: the hardware is fine and has both channels and ground. I also tried changing audio output from auto to hdmi or from hdmi to jack but no luck. On the recalbox log it shows Plback channels: Mono and I have no options in GUI to switch from mono to stereo, so I'm kinda stuck without options right now.

I restored a backup and the wifi came back, it had the same settings as my previously faulty install had. Weird.

@Pepe Thank you for your help.

I followed the settings explained, but I only edited wlan0 with a static ip (as i don't plan to use ethernet). Same wifi configuration error.

If i can't get any more help I'm gonna try restoring a backup, as I have an img file of the SD card before it somehow crapped out just by changing the wifi channel and changing it back.

In recalbox.log all I see is that it starts wifi and then wifi times out.

    • RE: Pi3 will not connect over wifi after switching to channel 13 (terrible pi3 integrated wifi support)

@Pepe No. Still no wifi on the Pi whatsoever. The only thing I could try is reinstall Recalbox all over again but it will be a major pain to manually copy over everything I had. Still the same Recalbox 4.0.0, wifi in channel 11, 2.4ghz, rechecked that the password and the SSID were properly inputted and (just in case) that I didn't have anything blocking the SSID in the router's settings. Everything is fine and dandy and even my s**tty conceptronic USB wifi dongle I use in a livingroom PC works perfectly. I tested every single device I had lying in my home that could run on WiFi and I have no problems at all. Just the d**n Recalbox won't connect. Something indeed went horribly wrong on the wifi support since I can't even go back to my previous settings without some hours of reinstalling chores in the middle. @Substring
