    • RE: Resolution problem with Recalbox 8 on a 4K Samsung

@alvin thanks kindly for your links, but unfortunately I don't get it to work. I've tried what has been suggested in the config guide and also found the right number for my 4K display but I don't get the right result.

      I've found something out though:
      IMG_7837.JPG

As you can see, the tv screen itself has a picture ratio of 16:9, the displayed part from Recalbox has a video ratio from 21:9 though. Makes sense to display the "21:9" image in the middle of the "16:9" screen - yes, but from Recalbox, the tv should get a 16:9 signal but it gets a 21:9 one (tried to change that in my Samsung menue but it always states, that the signal is 21:9 and not 16:9).

How can I force the output from Recalbox to be 16:9?

      Best regards,
      Dan

      EDIT
I got it fixed somehow. Changing the HDMI port on my tv made it work... maybe this helps someone else as well 🙂

    • Resolution problem with Recalbox 8 on a 4K Samsung

Dear developers and users, maybe someone can help me. I am having problems with the resolution of my Recalbox 8 (on a Pi4) attached to my Samsung 4K monitor.

Instead of being stretched to the max of the screen, I get black bars on the top and bottom of the screen and Recalbox is only displayed on some kind of a 21:9 resolution instead of using my 16:9 screen. It’s not cropped but instead the becels are stretched or drawn wider.

I would like to use the full screen for Recalbox though. What can I do?

Bonus question: Where can I deactivate Becels?

      Thanks kindly,
      Best regards
      Dan

@zing sorry for the double post, that was by accident. Regarding the wiki links, I don’t get it actually. It explains how to install the RTP but what about the games?

@pitch64 psx rearmed on a Pi4. On Reddit I read that a few people had exactly the same Problem. They solved it by making a factory reset and that’s what I did - and it works again.

Still no idea what went wrong.

@barbudreadmon something seems to have changed in the recent update though.

My controllers are working for all various platforms and games, even for some PSX games but for some it doesn’t - it worked before the latest update though.

The games in question are mostly analog stick games so I guess somethings wrong with the drivers or input settings since the update.

Can someone investigate this issue any further?

@barbudreadmon no but I was able to fix the problem by setting a different emulator for the game.

    • No Controller in PSX Games (Tomb Raider)

      Dear developers,

I am having issues with my Recalbox since the last update. Both of my controllers are correctly connected and displayed in EmulationStation. They also work well when playing SNES or NES games but if I try to play the PSX version of Tomb Raider, it tells me that there is no controller connected. I can get back to the EmulationStation with my Hotkey combination though, but I can’t play the game.

By the way: How can I reset the controller mapping?

      Best regards,
      Torm

@Scavy that's just fine, I expected the content like that 🙂 You people should really pin that information somewhere, it's a really good tutorial!

One last question: How do I switch discs ingame? Is there a hotkey combination?

This was the top answer @Scavy, very good, it works like a charm 🙂 I wonder, how do I handle multi-disc games with this method?

    • PSX Games - Right way of putting them on my share?

      Dear Members and developers,

I am currently building my new Recalbox 7.0 and I wonder (as this has always been a problem for me) how do I have to prepare my PSX roms the best possible way?

Currently I have them as RAR archives on my hd. I noticed, if I extrect them to a folder, I sometimes have 2 or more "games" appearing in my Recalbox games list. I guess the reason for this is that Recalbox takes the .bin, the .cue (and sometimes even the other tracks) as unique entries and thinks it's a complete game what's simply wrong.

So what's the right way to deal these games?

      Best regards,
      Torm

    • Using 6.0 Themes in 7.x?

      Dear developers,

is it possible to use 6.0 themes for Recalbox also in 7.x versions? And, where is a good place to download themes in general? Batocera has a nice feature inbuild, from where you can download themes directly in EmulationStation, that would be nice in Recalbox as well.

      Best regards,
      Torn

    • Custom Collections in RecalBox 7.x

      Dear developers,

I wonder is it possible to define custom collections just as in Batocera? For example a custom collection that shows all 2-player games, all 4-player games, things like that?

I really like that functionality for party evenings with my friends were we do not want to struggle with searching for the right stuff but instantly have what we want.

      Best regards,
      Torm

    • [EmulationStation] How to display roms in subfolders

      Dear developers,

I am running the latest version of RecalBox and I have a question: I sorted my roms in a directory structure. For example, all the SNES hacks are not in the "roms/snes" folder but in a subdirectory "roms/snes/hacks". The problem that I have now is as follows: Instead of the subfolder "Hacks" being displayed in EmulationStation, it simply displays all the hacks that are in the roms/snes directory as well as the ones in the /hacks directory. There is no "entry" in the games list under SNES on which I can choose the subfolder.

      What am I doing wrong?

      Best regards,
      Torm

    • Recalbox on LCL Pi

      Dear Recalbox Team,

I am running the RecalBox GPi Case version on a LCL Pi. It actually works very good so far but I have a few questions though:

      • How can I change the resolution ES is running in? LCL Pi has a larger display resolution and I am having black bars at the top and bottom of the screen (maybe auto-adjust would be cool as well)
      • The LCL Pi is running a Pi 3+ instead of a Pi 0, can or need I adjust something here as well?

      Best regards,
      Dan
