Problem is resolved. I'm not exactly sure what happened, it just seemed to start working once I got back from the gym. I had another issue in which the recalbox would not correctly boot using the switch, but I fixed that by disabling safe mode.
Go figure.

I'm having a problem with my Recalbox. I can't seem to get my switch to work. I followed the instructions found at: https://github.com/recalbox/recalbox-os/wiki/Add-a-start-stop-button-to-your-recalbox-(EN) and I have been unable to get this to work.
I installed this switch: https://www.amazon.com/Monk-Makes-SKU00046-Raspberry-Squid/dp/B0170AJ98G/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1489699642&sr=8-1&keywords=raspberry+pi+squid onto pins 5 and 6, and I edited the configuration file, but when I press the switch nothing happens.
The config looks like this: system.power.switch=PIN56PUSH
When I try to bridge the pins with a screwdriver nothing happens. This all seems really simple, so I don't understand what can possibly be wrong here. Has anyone here had any similar problems?
