System was working well at v8, but I allowed it to update. Now my controller works only in the menus but any game it will not work.

I have a Rpi4 in a commodore 64 (the board was dead and is sitting on a shelf for later repair) with a keyrah. I'm using a Sony Playstation 3 clone joystick (schwann).

I've checked the "Main Menu" "Controller Settings" and the input p1 is configured to "Sony Playstation(r)3 Controller". I've run through the configuration again setting the buttons. However the Keyrah and keyboard come out as the game controller which... well lets just say playing a Gameboy game with a c64 keyboard isn't ideal.

Any ideas here?

I'm having issues with Recalbox and N64 roms. Like a few people before me I'm seeing recalbox launch the game to a black screen only to return to recalbox directly. I've double checked my settings to rule out the screen resolution issue as well as the controller mapping issue. I've used ssh and checked that my television supports the needed modes, and I've set up my controller to map L1 and R1. I've also tried this on multiple systems with either PS3 controllers with a external Bluetooth adaptor, and wired Xbox 360 controllers.

At this point I'm not sure what the issue is. I'm using the same roms I used on my systems previous incarnation as a retropie so I'm sure the roms work. I came over due to the ease of setup (retropie setups took days, this is mostly plug and play). So far only the n64 is an issue.

What else can I try?
