Recalbox Cabinet - 42inch LCD horizontal or vertical
-
Hi! I've finally got all my parts for my arcade project together but I'm still uncertain if I should place the LCD (its a standard 42inch LCD with 16:9 ratio) vertical or horizontal. I've understand that it's highly depending which games I intend to play, I'll propably will play most of my NES games.
I'm curios about your experience with screen positionings and aspect ratios. In tending to use the LCD vertical with a 4:3 ratio which should fill up the screen quite well.
I've intendet to make a 2 player Cabinet, similar to the sleek look of the "Retro Space Cabinet" by Martijn Koch but adopted to the screen positoning. (http://www.martijnkoch.com/index.php?cat=dsgn&language=en&big=ar0#nogo)
Any thoughts from you are highly welcome!

@derchristoph You'll have a bigger picture horizontally there is absolutely no point positioning the screen vertically unless you plan on pleying mostly vertical arcade games (shoot em up, donkey kong, that kind of things)

@voljega Thanks for your feedback!
I'll probably switch to a smaller screen (since the 42inch screen would require a cabinet with min. 110cm / 43inch width) and stick to a horizontal setup. -
@derchristoph unless you stream games from your PC (if you have a >GT600 GPU) with moonlight hahaha !!!

With 42", at 320x240, pixels have +-3mm. Also no pleasure at short distance from the screen.
