GPIO FOR A PLAYER WITH 9 BUTTONS

I have seen that the gpio assignments are pre-set for two players but I only need one player. My problem comes in that for each player has assigned 7 buttons and I need a single player with 9 buttons.

Does anyone know how to use gpio for a single player but with so many buttons?
