Solved NeoGeo / FBA issues with sound

I am running the current latest build on my box. At least, the most recent one that the default settings updates to.
I am attempting to run some NEOGEO games through FBA since the MAME core is far outdated and wont run Metal Slug 4 or above. (Along with some other games I wanted to play on FBA) And I can't get the audio to work. It's completely silent. I can't get any sound through Metal Slug 4, 5 or Samurai Showdown 5. The games are perfectly playable, just silent.
Any ideas on what might be wrong? I am pretty b*mmed out. Libretro doesn't want to boot any of those games either (I tried)

You moved your roms to another folder so they now tun in a different emulator

Yeah apparently I didn't notice there was an actual spot to put neogeo specific games, and that runs all of the games I was having issues with...with sound. I feel like an idiot for not seeing that before.
