Getting frustrated

I have a RPi3. I took an xbox360 controller from my nephew that I can't get to work. I can't run any version of Galaga. I am trying o get this all set up before I build my bartop arcade. Any tips or hints? Surely Galaga must work? I have full .143 set and used clrmamepro to make it .78 compatible.

Clrmamepro is crap, get the right romset there is no way clrmamepro could really downgrade it from 143 to 78. For the 360 controller it's perfectly working, juste activate the xbox360 driver in recalbox.conf (see wiki). Also if it's the wireless one, you'll need the felated dongle to make it work (those controllers are not bluetoith)
