games AR. games look stretched

i'm new to this, recent install, 7.2.1 all my games appear to be stretched to full screen, and no matter what i set in game settings, it doesnt change. how can i change it to 4:3 with the vertical black bars on each side?
i tried searching, and saw a lot about retroarch ar, but hotkey + b doesnt open up retroarch for me

would like all my consoles to have the 4:3 non stretched look

@skrapps You can, through the Emulationstation menu, set the game ratio, and it is even possible to set this setting per emulator if you want.
Another option is to activate the Perfect Pixel function, which will make the recalbox keep the original aspect ratio of the screen at all times.
Make sure there is no specific zoom option enabled on your TV/Monitor as this could be the problem.
