6.1 x86_64 will not boot into GUI after update from 6.0
-
Hi all, I've only just started with recalbox this week. Installed 6.0 ok and had it working. Connected to wireless and ran the update to 6.1 but on the reboot I just get a flashing cursor in the top left.
Tried a fresh install of 6.1 - Same thing. It's running on a 5th gen i5 with SSD - Briefly saw the black screen with pacman ghosts but then back to flashing cursor. I read somewhere that this is the time it is creating the extra partitions but I have left it for an hour and no change (6.0 was less than a minute here)
I would go back to 6.0 but i deleted the images and there are no links to previous versions to download a 6.0 again
For now, it would be great if i could just go back to 6.0 if someone can link me to the images.

@elnino I'm actually having the same exact problem. Everything was working fine for months with no issues but then I saw an update so I did it. Now the Pac Man boot screen shows up when booting and then I see a black screen with a flashing cursor like you're describing. I even left it like this for about 20 minutes thinking it was updating and it just sat on the black screen with the cursor. Idk what gives. Hopefully we get some answers

@enigmatic_one @elnino hello you need to start manually from the web-manger or from an ssh console with the command
es start
the boot video hangs on certain configuration! -
@strodown Is there a video on how to do this? I'm not following.
-
@strodown Every time or just first boot after update?
I managed to find a 6.0 on one of my machines and loaded that again for now.
-
- on PC it is necessary to make a fresh installation!
- several boot issues were raised, to ensure a total boot
you have to login in ssh to your Recalbox:
https://recalbox.gitbook.io/tutorials/filesystem/root-access-on-terminal
then once connect type these commands:
mount -o remount, rw /
and
mv /etc/init.d/S03splash /etc/init.d/splash
after that
reboot
and everything should work at best
-
@strodown is this for both partitions? Or just a fresh install in Recalbox partition? I want to test if WiFi is working again, but my "system" partition is over 400 GB of data, and it's a pain delete-and-copy again every time this happens. Thanks to the team for the update!

@bernoo said in 6.1 x86_64 will not boot into GUI after update from 6.0:
just a fresh install in Recalbox partition?
you must do a fresh installation on the hard disk where the recalbox system is installed and then keep only the directories (BIOS; ROMS; SAVES) on the hard disk where you store your roms etc

@strodown thanks for the tips, I had the same issue with a fresh install of 6.1 on a i5-8400T with iGPU.

Same Issue with 6.1.1
