Start/Stop-Button: Only momentary switch and Power-LED possible?

I've read the article two or three times, but one thing I do not understand:
Can I use exactly a momentary switch as a Start/Stop-Button and a Power-LED - nothing more, nothing less and nothing else?

For me, it seems, that as soon I want to use a Power-LED, I have to use a latching switch for Start/Stop-Button, right?
