      HI all

I have recalbox 4.1.0 on Rpi 3 + 2TB usb HDD (NTFS formatted) with 5 partitions.
I wont to be able to use Total Commander with SFTP plugin to connect with recalbox and have access to my drive. Playing 2 weeks now and have some problems, tried to google it out but no luck (probably asking wrong questions :))

      My problem is:

      1. After connecting to recalbox and navigating to media i see usb0... to usb7 but there are only 4 with content:
usb0 - recalbox, look like SD card
        usb1 - HDD partition 1
        usb2 - HDD partition 2
        usb3 - HDD partition 3
usb4-7 are empty so i'm missing 2 HDD partitions.

Is it because i have 5 partitions in GPT ? It's strange because two partition i'm missing is one with pictures and the second on with recalbox roms that i can play whit no issues. So where can i find that two missing partitions?

I could combine 2 partitions in one if its necessary but will it see 4?

      1. Is there a way to make a shortcut to each partition in main folder? I don't mind but my wife panic when need to go to media and see usb0... so I would like to make shortcuts like Pictures on main folder for her 🙂

      Thanks for help:)

@lordszyha well you message is pretty impossible to understand (first 5 partitions, then 7, no idea if it is used only with recalbox and empty before that) so let's start simply :

        • are you using your external HDD only with recalbox ?
        • if so did you configure its usage through EmulationStation ?
        • in that case you hard drive before configuring it to be used with your recalbox should have only one partition and if it would be better to be in FAT32 or ExtFAT (but ExtFAT isn't compatible with vanilla Windows so better stick with FAT32 if you use Windows)

          @VOLJEGA thx for reply.

As I said i have 5 partitions on my HDD and thous usb0 - usb7 are in media directory regardless if u connect usb HDD or not. It seems to me that it is capable to mount only 7 disc/partitions.
I wont to haw ftp so i need few partitions.

          I have an update 🙂
When i look at http://recalbox/monitoring there is list of mounted disc with directories. It shine some light:) I found my games:

          device /dev/sdb6
mount directory /var/recalboxfs and second in /recalbox/share

and my 700GB Pictures partition at
          device /dev/sdb1
          mount directory /media/usb1

but now it don't see thous 3 partitions that had seen before:/ and usb2 - usb7 are empty.

Is there a way that maybe recalbox boot to fast and doesn't have time to find all partitions?
          (i know - stupid idea:))

I have anader HDD and i fink that i will make there 8 partition and cheek if recalbox will see all of them:)

@voljega dude come down:) I thought that i made my self clear that hdd was formatted on a PC and i sometimes connect it to PC because its easier to menage photos. Second q is no i didn't configure it through EmulationStation. But i don't see third question there 🙂

I will google "configure through EmulationStation" but i reboot recalbox and it sims that its randomly sees from 1 to 3 partitions every reboot. Aldo it always see game partition:)

              Regards:)

I wasn't clear at all, even the number of partitions you're claiming your harddrive has change from line to line.

So basically, you didn't configure the usage of your hardrive the standard and supported way, and its usage isn't even limited to recalbox, so it's totally outside what we know and recommand.

So pretty much nobody will be able to help you with that, either use the standard way or pray for someone to walk here which would be using its harddrive exactly like you.

And given the low price of hardrive and/or usb key I really don't see the point of going through such pain, just use a dedicated hdd or usb key and configure it through EmulationStation

If u connect to recalbox via FTP and go to "media" there are usb0, usb1, usb2, usb3, usb4, usb5, usb6 and usb7 where recalbox mount drivers/partitions i think its pretty clear that thous are not my partition because i written i have 5.... thous are only directory where they can be...

I have a few 1 and 2 TB HDD but my goal is to not plug all of them because i don"t need as meany..
I could put FTP on a different RPi but i'm looking for all-in-one solution.

Question is simple: Why on boot recalbox see random number of partitions and not all of them?

I tried rootdelay=100 in /boot/cmdline.txt but still couldn't force it to see all 5.

                  Regards:)

@lordszyha as I said, use the standard dedicated way of configuring the hdd or nobody will be able nor willing to lose time to help you.

Also recalbox is a retrogaming distribution, not a ftp server, so I don't even know what you want to achieve here, hdd on recalbox are used to store the share partition stocking roms and nothing else.

Any other usage is not our concern nor will be supprted here
