Sandisk 256 GB USB stick to store games, will it work or too big for Pi 3 ?
-
I already use a sandisk USB 128 GB and I m thinking of getting these https://www.amazon.es/Memoria-flash-SanDisk-velocidad-lectura/dp/B07857Y17V/ref=sr_1_1?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1529718138&sr=1-1&keywords=sandisk+ultra+fit+256gb
Will it work or 256 GB is too big for Pi3 to read ? -
@recalboxer I use a 2To harddrive so no problem

It will likely work but I suggest you get a SD Micro Card instead of the stick like I have done it yesterday.
But in any case, just be aware that you can't simply copy-paste everything 1:1 without Linux knowledge. You need to install Recalbox from scratch anew and copy your /roms (or even better, the whole share folder) on your hard disk before you transfer it to your new stick or micro card.Should you have any issues with the recalbox 4.1 installation (like getting a black screen without the actual installation process starting), I recommend you downloading one of the former versions.

@milescw I m using a USB instead of an SD because its the only way you can copy/paste games without linux knowledge etc , you just copy games to the USB and you are done forever
I m asking if 256 GB will work because its 80 euros just to buy it ,
no money to waste right now -
I use this particular one. While i know its not the size, and maybe a later version, but it works great. Only complaint is it gets very hot to the touch when transferring a lot of data.

As for what miles pointed out, I would NOT use a microSD card. I made that mistake, when I lost everything when I attempted to do an update. While i'm sure there was a linux way to restore all that, it is just easier, safer and cheaper to get one of these tiny flash drives and keep everything everything on god's green earth on it. That's my opinion.
