Bluetooth and Odroid XU4
-
Hi, I've tried connecting my PS3 controller on my Odroid XU4 and it doesn't work. After I do a bluetooth device scan it find the controller but once I click on it, it doesn't connect. It gives me the error message when it can't connect to a bluetooth controller.
I tried resetting the controller with the small button on the back.
I tried going in the RB manager and change the bluetooth driver and it does the same thing.
I've done my tests with a USB bluetooth controller that works with RB on x86 laptops.
I've asked my friend who have a XU4 and he tried with a generic, dualshock 4, SN30 Pro and a switch pro controller and they all didn't worked. He tried on the Odroid 4.0 bluetooth module 3.
Thanks for helping me.

I did further searches and found out the confirmation that my bluetooth dongle is compatible per your compatibility sheet https://github.com/recalbox/recalbox-os/wiki/Compatibility-(EN)
IOGEAR Bluetooth 4.0 USB Micro Adapter (GBU521)
I really think there's just an issue on the XU4 handling bluetooth connections through the menu. I know it can be done manually with this method https://github.com/recalbox/recalbox-os/wiki/Connect-bluetooth-controller-manually-(EN)
But it my opinion this manual "not user friendly" method isn't the Recalbox way. It more looks like a Retropie kind of workaround. I know Recalbox is really reputed for having things done directly from the menu and easily.
I think a lot of Odroid users like me would appreciate a lot a fix for this
Thanks!

I got the same issue with several 8bitdo controllers. The manual connection works, the one from the menu does not.

Added the issue to Gitlab. Hope this get resolved in the next update!

When on earth have you ever read somewhere that you're suppposed to pair PS3 pads using the BT pairing menu ??? Read the darn documentation
For other controllers like 8bitdo, i just tried today, paired without a problem a NES30 Pro using the BT dongle we recommend ...

"In order to associate a PS3 controller, first connect the controller to the USB port and wait 10 seconds. After this you can now disconnect the controller and press the Home button to initiate the wireless connection."
Hi and thanks for your reply. I know the method referred in your link. It works A1 on the RPI3. It doesn't work on the XU4 for some reason.
Please try a DS3 and it really doesn't work unfortunately.
Thanks.

Thank you for the answers. I basically tried it with the full 8bitdo lineup (despite the arcade stick). The connection via the menu does not work, manual connection works. This is just an odroid xu4 issue. In case of the raspi version the bt setup via menu works.

Hi to all!
I have an Odroid XU4 with CSL bluetooth dongle and I am trying to pair SF30 Pro from 8Bitdo (firmware v1.29) but I cannot from ES (no controllers found).
If I do manual pairing using bluetoothctl command I am able to pair it and it works, but sometimes I lose the controller and from ES is not possible to do it.
I am also running latest version from Recalbox (18.07.13). Tried to pair the controller with an Android device and also works fine.
I am staring SF30 Pro using START + B, tried to reset, etc, but no way to do it from ES menu.Any help or ideas?
Thanks so much!
Note: I also own a RPi3 with Recalbox, and I have no issues pairing the same controller using the builtin bluetooth and using ES.

and
https://github.com/recalbox/recalbox-os/wiki/Connect-bluetooth-controller-manually-(EN)to be short, with SSH access call for Using bluetoothctl and pair your pad.
I works for a while and then after some days, you will be needed to do it again

Thanks very much for your answer about how to workaround that issue, I do manual pairing using bluetoothctl and work.
I also checked the topic you mentioned (https://forum.recalbox.com/topic/12090/utilisation-bluetooth-sur-odroid-xu4/50), and I did the suggestion that @bdemonte commented #48 from that thread.
I adjusted the file named 'test-discovery', then restarted and voila, I am able to discover and pair the 8Bitdo controller from the ES!!
I think that this adjustment is going to be merged in the future, so it will be fixed.
Thanks very much for your comments and support!!
