I'm about to go Crazy!!!!! 4.1. Update Issue's for PSX and DC
-
Hey Guys,
I've been going insane for the last 2 days trying to figure out how to add PSX and Dreamcast roms on to my Recalbox( Pi 3). I couldn't figure out how to update my old version(4.0.2), So I deleted the old version and updated through the image (Etcher Program). I now have 4.1 and for the life of me cant seem to add any psx roms onto the PI. I don't know what to do, I've been looking for videos and cant seem to find one that's helpful. I usually go through Coolrom to get my roms and for some odd reason, the download appears weird. I do have the Bios for Psx, but I'm not sure if I have the right one(s) for DC. I somehow got MvC2 (DC) on my Pi but it kicks me back to main menu after a few seconds. I want to Gronk spike something so bad because I've never felt this defeated when it comes to my Raspberry pi. If anybody could take the time to explain this to me in Plain English or send me a useful video, I would greatly appreciate it. I'm on a PC....if that helps and I was able to transfer roms from my gf's mac back in like April but I'm thinking a lot has changed since then.

Good morning,
I now have 4.1 and for the life of me cant seem to add any psx roms onto the PI. I don't know what to do, I've been looking for videos and cant seem to find one that's helpful.
what exactly is the problem? you dont become the files on the pi, or are they only not displayed in ES?
Any error message?
You had .bin files? To show up in ES you need .cue files.I do have the Bios for Psx, but I'm not sure if I have the right one(s) for DC. I somehow got MvC2 (DC) on my Pi but it kicks me back to main menu after a few seconds.
DC BIOS you need files named
dc_boot.bin
anddc_flash.bin
Also look that you have correct md5 hash.https://forum.recalbox.com/topic/9289/4-1-stable-faq/2

@abunille
First, Thank you for taking the time out to help me. At some point the PSX Roms did appear on ES and it would kick me back to the main screen( Rom would'nt load up). The way I was taught on how to transfer psx roms was through the shared section on my laptop. I'd open my my Girlfriends Mac and just drag and drop the psx rom into the psx folde. I'm on PC now but still have the saved roms on my GF's Mac. As of right now I have a Sega Dreamcast game on the ES. It kicks my back to the main screen as well. Am I transferring roms wrong?! I can get the ones for NES,SNES and SEGA with no problem, for those I type in my I.P address on to the address bar and transfer those that way. I tried the same way with DC Roms and most of the games are to big to transfer(that's the error I get ) Everything regarding the 4.1 is new to me. I don't even know how to check if my md5 hash is correct( never heard of it). So to make things easier. I'll list my questions...- How do I transfer PSX and DC roms over to Recalbox for 4.1? Through the shared folder's or through the Internet?( once I figure out the bios situation)
- Can I still use the I.P address technique to ensure I have the proper Bios for DC or does that have to transferred through the shared folder as well?
- DId I make a mistake in deleting my old version ?
I've done some many things I don't know whats the correct way anymore. All I know is that the roms for PSX and DC Show up, They wont work at all.

If the roms show up, then you transfered them right.
You have to check, if your bios files (for psx and for dreamcast) are the right ones and have the correct names.
Here you can find information:
https://github.com/recalbox/recalbox-os/wiki/Add-system-bios-(EN)Download HashCalc (google it, because i was not able to post the link here, it was marked as spam) and then check, if your bios files are correct.

@joinski
Thank you for taking the time out to help. I did see the Roms and I assume I put the correct Bios for PSX( at least). Correct me If i'm wrong, Am I still transferring PSX ( I assume DC as well) roms through the shared folder ? -
@abunille actually mine is the opposite. i was able to get roms on to Recall box. Yet, everytime i boot into Crash Or Megaman X4 it says bios can not be found may cause bugs? i found the bios for the Playstation on the Wiki page. i found the bios folder in recall box but after that i do not know what to do?

The easiest way to transfer your roms is with the "webmanager".
But at the moment there is a problem with uploading big files, will be fixed in the future.
For now you transfer your roms over the shared folder (recalbox/share/roms), yes.Webmanager:
Windows: http://recalbox
Mac/Linux: http://recalbox.local -
Have you checked that you have the right MD5 and filename?
You can go to webmanager and check your bios there.
Have you also tested other psx games? -
@abunille I am still pretty new to all this stuff. yeah i just found out about that Web manager thing for Recall box, very neat! Megaman X4 & Crash 2 seem to run well. Thing is i got an error at the beginning saying "bios not found may cause bugs"
-
i cant test at the moment.
Webmanager: shows up that your bios is ok? -
Hey guys,
I've noticed that some of the roms that are downloaded come in as ECM.file. I figured out how to convert them into .BIN file. My question is which is the best webiste used to download roms for the Raspberry Pi3, Update 4.10? I used Moderation - removed link and when everytime I download a rom it prompts me to get a google add on and the file is downloaded it different. I cant unzip it or anything. Any ideas?
Thanks for your help again guys
