first day noob, NeoGeo, FBA, MAME black screens

Hello all. I am very new to this, as of today. been googling most the day. I was writing off the MAME ROMS as I couldn't find a source for the 0.78 build (?) so only some older games are working. However, after watching a YouTube video by ETAPrime I tried NeoGeo and FBA Libretro and even with the BIOS in place the games keep going to a black screen, then back to main menu. Any help with where I even need to start to look for why this is happening with MAME and NeoGeo ROMS? Using Recalbox 4.1 btw

Do you have the right romset ? do you have the right bios ? Arcade emulatrs are very picky regarding both parameters
