Try another SNES emulator for that game you can do that from Emulation Station menu

I have experienced this as well. Here is the fix: Go into the actual Emulator settings (HotKey + B) and input options. Set Player 3-5 to Disabled or none, then set Player 2 to just a controller or disable it. In the same menu options, about halfway down there is an option to Save Input Config and Save Input Game Config (which I assume will save it to only launch with that game). I just disable it for ALL games as I only intend on having 2 players max. Yoshi's Island and other FX based SNES games do not support Multitap and will fail to load.

Yeah I would say don't give a half baked solution which will give trouble to many people when there is already in the thread a simple, perfectly working response without any side effect

I'm trying to set the gamepads to disabled but I don't see the "input options" anywhere. There are input settings but they are different from described.

@Dinierto Just use another core for the game. As already stated above by @voljega. It's the easiest solution.
- Select the game in ES
 - Hit SELECT
 - EDIT META DATA
 - Change emulator to libretro
 - choose any other core instead of snes9x

@Dinierto follow nachtgarm's recommendation. Whay you look for is in quick options > controls, where the P2 input is set on multitap

Yeah I found it last night, that fixed it. Thanks! Maybe I'm being weird but I'd like to use SNES9X Next for everything.
