LIRC on Recalbox 9.1 not working

I am trying to get an IR remote working with Recalbox 9.1/Kodi
However, even when adding dtoverlay=lirc-rpi to /boot/config.txt, no IR drivers are detected.

Is LIRC support disabled/not installed on Recalbox 9.1? I think I remember it was temporarily dropped on 7 or 8, but I can't find evidence online.

Really no dev to answer this? Was LIRC support dropped completely from Recalbox 9.x?
