Games don't work properly anymore..

Hello

I used to play several Game&Watch games on my recal box, but all of sudden when I start them, there are no playable characters anymore, just the background.
Is this due to an unintentional change in the settings or on the controller buttons?

@Hzi A late self-reply:
The problem was that 2 controller buttons were wrongly taken, so instead of starting a game I unknowingly chose "Time"-mode (with no PC involved).
