Unsolved Compatibility issues with Libretro Flycast

Hi everyone, I bought a GPI Case 2W where I inserted a Raspberry pi0 2w and installed the latest version (9.1) of recalbox suitable for this case. All emulators are fine, I can even run PS1 games very well, the problem I notice is that with the Libretro Flycast emulator (which on paper should work https://wiki.recalbox.com/en/hardware-compatibility/ emulators-compatibility ), the games start well, I get to the menus, I start them but after a few seconds everything freezes and I have to forcefully turn off the raspberry. I would add that I entered the BIOS correctly and they are perfectly compatible and recognized. Since I see in many videos on YT that you can run this emulator, what am I doing wrong? Can you help me do some checking? Thank you

@vithouse82 Are you overclocking? Flycast might be too heavy for an overclocked Zero 2W. I recommend going back to stock clock speeds to see if it fixes the problem. You might also try putting a small heatsink on the processor (it will have to be small enough to fit in the cartridge).
In short, the most likely problem is heat. Since the GPI Case has no active cooling, there's a limit to how far you can push it. The Raspberry Pi will throttle automatically when it gets to maximum temperature, but inside the cartridge you could still get heat buildup.

Yes It was overclocked, now I removed the overclocking lines and added a small copper heatsink but the behavior is the same...Very frustrating see that PSX works excellent, I think there can be some kind of option for this emulator to permit It to work, I also setted a lower resolution but nothing...

I've found a video where DC runs very very well respect mine Pi0 2W, also this video is about 2 years ago so the core I think is not the latest, very strange behaviors on my pi...

I'll try to test this when I get a chance. I have a GPI Case 2W with a Zero 2W installed in it. I don't remember which software I'm running on it though. To accurately test I should install the latest Recalbox. It will be at least a week before I can do that, but if I get a chance I will post again with my results.

I Installed retropie from scratch on anothet SD card ( a slow card ), and with the same version of Flycast here runs very well and smooth, with a little overclock. So there's something in Recalbox wrong, I'm trying to compare the settings but they are identical, so very strange behavior in Recalbox

@barleyguy Hi, I did several tests, I also reinstalled recalbox from 0 on the MicroSD and these are my findings on Recalbox 9.1 on Retroflag GPI Case 2W with Raspberry 0 2W with copper heatsink:
- No overclocking
- Installing from scratch, if I insert only a couple of Dreamcast games, flycast "seems" to go quite well, it only crashed once and in that case you have to remove the cartridge forcibly because you can't get out anymore
- I have loaded the BIOS and roms of all the other platforms that interest me for a total of around 27k roms, I know that there are a lot of them and I have warnings from the Recalbox system that I shouldn't exceed 10k
- PSX and Nintendo64 work very well for me (the latter with the default GLIDEN64 emulator whose buttons I still don't understand and they are not explained on the Recalbox website)
- My Amstrad GX4000 works badly (slow and bad audio), Game and Watch don't work
As for the Dreamcast, I tried to monitor the CPU temperature and it doesn't exceed 65 degrees when it freezes, the throttling happens around 80 so I don't think it's a temperature problem, so it seems that when you overload Recalbox with so many roms it no longer works good, but that's just my hypothesis. I'm trying with the Reicast emulator but there too, it seems to start better but then there is no mapping of the keys on the guides and I don't know how to adjust any settings to improve performances

I can confirm that I'm having the same behavior... I installed a fresh copy of Recalbox on an sd card, booted up on the GPI Case 2W, and loaded it with a BIOS directory and Dreamcast ROMs.
I fired up Tony Hawk 2, and on the way down the first ramp in the hanger level, I got a hard freeze. Holding down hotkey and start did nothing, so I had to power off.
So, it does appear that Dreamcast is freezing on the Raspberry Pi Zero 2W.
