Xin-Mo Arcade Controllers

Need some assistance.  I have been searching for a way to not use hotkeys with my Xin-Mo Arcahde buttons (20 buttons).  I want to map four buttons (Menu, Pause, Save and Exit).  I do not want to use any hotkeys.  Everything I edit the Rectroarchcustom.cfg file, it removed my changes.  Is there anyway around this?   My buttons all show up when I test them using JStest.   I have two buttons mapped under player one USB Controller and 2 buttons mapped under player two USB Controller.   All my wiring is correct.  All my buttons work except the four that I want to remap . I want to remap and not use a hotkey but the buttons as straight commands.  Does anyone know how to do this, please point me in the correct direction..   Thank you

I had the Exit button working on RetroPie,  and started on the other buttons, but I like Recalbox with the Kodi interface.  There has to be a way of doing this.  If not, I might have to go back to Retropie.
