Jazz Jackrabbit I
-
After long time digging around, I have it working now.
It functions just with one only dosbox version, from update 09.02.18, Dosbox length 5'048'136. I dont know what this version has special, the game use himem and A20 support. Is the first dos game that I found such tricky. -
@Dragu I've never had problems to make it work in earlier versions:
- Download the game on any abandonware web
- Create a folder called "Jazz.pc" in /share/roms/dos
- Unzip the game in the folder Jazz.pc (/share/roms/dos/jazz.pc)
- Inside the folder Jazz.pc,create a file called dosbox.bat,edit file and add "jazz.exe" (game executable)
That way the game works without problems

@Quemandoacromo
And ? You finished all levels of the game without crash ?
The starting screen works with all versions of dosbox. -
@dragu World 1 clear without problems or crash.
Jazz Jackrabbit is supported since version 0.74 of DOSBox and Recalbox uses "DOSBox SVN" (an improved and updated version), so it has to work without problems. -
@Quemandoacromo
The support information on Dosbox Website is often related to the windows version and not all the variants for Linux circulating. But perhaps somebody else will try once. You could perhaps look what dosbox version you have, the file is in /usr/bin/dosbox. -
@dragu You can see the version in Gitlab:
- v0.74 (SVN r4076) with date 2018-02-08
If it works in Windows, it should work without problems in Linux or MacOS

@Quemandoacromo
If you look upper, my version is from 09.02.18, so should be the same. Anyway, I was one of the first testing dosbox under Recalbox, including working Windows 95 under dosbox/Recalbox. So I have some small experience of the case. And I have a box full of Linux dosbox versions over the time. We are here to resolve problems, not to quarrel about competence. -

@quemandoacromo @Dragu and I and others tested a lot if games (more than 1000 for me) and they are a lot of problems, and Windows, Mac or Linux got nothing to do with Recalbox
