I can confirm that my 8bitdo SN30 works in Emulation Station, but once I go into a game, I lose all button function with no way to exit the game.
I updated my 8bitdo to the latest firmware today.
The controller will work if I plug it in via USB.

I'm interested in this feature as well. Has it been added in ad different way that I'm missing? A search of the wiki doesn't seem to bring anything up.
