@bkg2k indeed @Anklum , the select + left/up trick works although it required several trials. you need to use it when setting your controller in the menu and then switch from d pad to analog using selct + up/left when running the game depending if you are playing or in menu(rayman on dreamcast as example)

same problem here, cannot play Rayman great escape on dreamcast due to to that.
Any idea apart from pairing a controller with bluetooth?

Thanks for the tip with Snes9x emulator. It worked for me.
I also have the lines on left side of the screen like yours.
