Next silly question - connecting to network

Ok so I got recalbox working but I can't add ROMs as I can't connect to the internet to flash them over. I've tried a LAN cable but it shows as not connected and my IP address is te:: something, not what I'd expect and I can't see it as a network drive. How do I connect to WiFi? Is it just the manual method by typing in ssid and password. Ridiculous I know but the H is broken on my keyboard so I can't type in the SSID Any ideas on wired? Or do I need to get a keyboard?
