Dreamcast Gamepad and hotkey

Hello,

I want to play with a dreamcast gamepad, but he have only 7 buttons, 6 button + 1 start.

How can I configure hotkey ?
Can I use keyboard for hotkey (how can do this ?) ?

Actually if I configure hotkey on start button when I use this the game close (I think hotkey + start = quit)
And if I use escape on keyboard the game close too ...
