Emulation with the GPi Case using Recalbox and a Raspberry Pi Zero 2
-
I've had a few days with this now and I can say for certain that emulation is much, much better. GBA ganes finally work with the default emulator with no issues (except one, more on that in a second) and PSX emulation runs at full speed. Grandia looks f**king amazing and plays like a dream, as do Gran Turismo and Crash Bandicoot. While I still prefer the PS Vita for PSX games, I can finally say the GPI case is a good alternative.... unless further tests bring up any issues with overheating.
The only real issue is with audio. By this I mean there is the occasional and unfortunately noticeable audio stutter present in games. It happens across emulators (I notice it in Tetris on the original Gameboy and in Grandia and Gran Turismo on the PS1). It happens more frequently with PSX games and was more noticeable in Gran Turismo than it was in Grandia. Maybe this is an issue with Recalbox, since I had the same issue with the old Raspberry Pi Zero W.
