Generic GameCube controller not functioning in game

Hey I am using a generic gamecube controller on my RP 2b with the latest version of recalbox. My controller will work in the main menu and let me select the game I want to play, but after that it stops working. My controller becomes completely unresponsive after I launch a game.

@gshoemaker3 did you configure buttons and everything in EmulationStation ?
