Joystick sensitivity issues

Running recalbox on RaspPi and have my LED and joystick hooked up and working on my bartop arcade. However I found that when I am trying to scroll through the game platforms, my joystick will not go to the next immediate system, but instead jumps two, three, or four game system tabs down the line. I try and go back and again, will not go back by one tab, but will jump again so it is horribly difficult to choose the game system i want to play. I am NOT technically savy and probably have no business building this, but i did it anyway. I cannot find anything online to help with this scrolling sensitivity issue with the joystick. Any help would be appreciated.
