      I'm using a Mac to download the file for Raspberri pi 2. I've downloaded the .xz file successfully, and also installed Etcher. When I select the file in etcher it repeatedly say "File Format not recognized." I've repeated the process over and over but had no joy. Can anyone help…???

            @grezmondo81 download the .sha1 file of the image and verify it with a software that xan compute sha1 from a file. You're on mac, i can't help you more. The aim is t make sure your diwnload is valid

              @substring The download seems valid. Although when I try to open the zipped file it simply duplicates the file again (creates a .2 version). Tried everything

                @grezmondo81

                Try to extract the file with example The Unarchiver.
                And if Etcher fails again, try ApplePi-Baker.
                I never used Etcher on Mac.
