Testers wanted: network share over wifi
-
Hi all,
Until know, accessing a nas (or any network share) was only possible over ethernet. The wifi management has been reviewed, allowing now the same feature over wifi.
Note: the beta session is available for RPI 1, 2 and 3, not for other boards.
Here is how to test it:
-
Edit recalbox.conf and set updates.type to the branch name above :
updates.type=https://review-292-wifi-a-g3lghc-archive-review-prod.recalbox.com
-
Do the upgrade
-
Setup your wifi (if not already done)
-
Setup a network share
-
Reboot
On the next reboot, and only this one, you'll still have wifi enabled. BUT if you've set all the
share
to network storage, you'll have to setup wifi again within ES or recalbox.conf, or wifi informations will be lost on the following reboots, because the new empty recalbox.conf will be taken.We're waiting for your feedback

It works!

@shira thanks for your feedback, don't hesitate to give more details if you want or post any issue you may have (I hope you won't)
For example: what kind of RPI do you have ?
Do you mount the whole share or just roms ? -
@oyyodams I have a Pi3, I mounted /Roms and /Saves
The only "issue" is that it takes a long time to start, I guess cause it's much slower on Wifi to scan for my roms than it did over LAN (~120.000 files in 140 GB)
-
@shira that's not really an issue, wifi is slower than ethernet, and if you're using internal wifi of the PI3, it's very slow. If you want to increase performances, you can buy a wifi usb dongle.
-
@oyyodams will it support 5Ghz Wifi adapters? (that's why I quoted "issue", I know it's much slower)
