Broken N64 Resolution

Hello,
I wanted to see how high of a resolution my pi could handle for n64 games. I went into Mario Kart 64, and through the quick menu settings of libretro I turned it up very high. While I expected a incredibly slow framerate, it now completely crashes on bootup. How can I lower the resolution of the game without being able to open it?
