PS3 Controller not working anymore

Hi guys.
So I installed the the latest version from recalbox website which has a couple of games.
Did the setup for PS3 remote and other things and worked fine even wireless.

Earlier the week I downloaded a 4.0.0 version 32gb compilation thingy from xxxxdone by xxx

It didnt pick up my controller on 1st boot,
When I unplug controller from usb it stops flashing, "connects" channel 1, but does nothing, even if connected.
Tried going into Menu/Controller Settings/Configure , no luck
Went into config file, changed it from official to the other 2 options, no luck.
Have searched through here/google but no luck.

This is my 1st time doing something like this. Came upon a bartop arcade post and want to build one, but cant get the basic thing to work.

Any idea how I can sort this out please?

There is no support for custom version you find on the internet, it's absolutely impossible to know what the people who made the version did exactly in it.
And 4.0.0 is one year old.

Download the latest official version.
