Python "games"

I want to add Python as a game system in the menu. The games would actually just be very basic scripts I want to run. So far I'm not having any luck. A search result said I could just add "python_game" in the roms folder along with the files inside. There was also some confusing information about whether I needed a .sh shell script to execute it. So far I have not been able to get anything to actually show up in the menu.
