[Problem] Controllers Not Working
-
I've just set up a Recalbox, and I can't get any controllers to function. I'm quite sure it's something stupid I'm doing. The recalbox was set up per instructions on the main page. I was also able to configure wireless and copy all roms over that way. They register in the UI, and seem to launch fine (via keyboard). Everything on the software side seems great. But I can't get controllers to work. I have a brand-new PS3 Dualshock controller, which is fully charged. I plug it in to the RP, and all four lights flash on and off. After 10 seconds, I disconnect it, and press the PS button. The four lights flash again, and then go dark, but nothing else happens. The controller does not work in the games. I see from watching videos that I should get a single light come on as makes a connection with the system. Thought perhaps it was a controller issue, so I got a Microsoft USB XBox-360 controller. This one is wireless and has a dongle that plugs into the PI. When it's connected, I can see the controller in the configuration screen, and can select it for spots 1-4. But still nothing happens. I can't move the UI at all, and it doesn't work in games. Here's my setup: Rasberry Pi 2 , Model B, 1 GB Ram (CanaKit + WiFi dongle) 32 GB MicroSD (formatted per instructions with SDFormatter) recalboxOS-v3.3.0-beta17 Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks very much for your time! Mark

Hello, so let's try to resolve your problems.
Can you try other ps3 drivers ? In recalbox, 3 drivers are available
original, shanwan, gasia
. So you can switch them through your recalbox.conf file. You switch, reboot, reappair (plug, wait 10sec, unplug and pray) with all drivers and you give us a feedback.Thought perhaps it was a controller issue, so I got a Microsoft USB XBox-360 controller. This one is wireless and has a dongle that plugs into the PI. When it’s connected, I can see the controller in the configuration screen, and can select it for spots 1-4. But still nothing happens. I can’t move the UI at all, and it doesn’t work in games.
So you have a wireless xbox360 gamepad + a xbox wireless dongle like this one and your gamepad is not functional ? You can try to activate
xboxdrv driver
through yourecalbox.conf
That add a better support with xbox360 gamepads. -
I tried all three PS3 drivers with no success. (1) edited config to select the ps3 driver (and verify all other drivers off), (2) restart recalbox, (3) plugin in controller for 10 seconds, (4) disconnect. In all cases, the PS3 dualshock blinked all four lights when connected. When disconnected, it flashed all four lights again when trying to connect. No connection was made. For the XBOX controller, (1) turned off PS3 driver, and enabled XBOX driver, (2) connected wireless usb dongle for controller, (3) restarted recalbox. It was not able to control the screen. When I select "Configure a controller", it shows 2 gamepads detected, but pressing all buttons on the device did not register any activity. Selected controller input #0, and went from "default" to XBOX controller (forget exact text) which appeared in the list. Again, no result. The controllers were purchased at a major retailer (Best Buy), so they should be from a large maker, and of good quality. I have never used either PS3 or XBOX controllers before, but the instructions given on the recalbox site seem very straightforward and easy to follow. I have not changed any configuration settings other than the ones mentioned above in the recalbox installation. Forgot to mention I also attempted recalbox installation on two different microSD cards from different makers just in case that was the issue. No difference. Are the any diagnostics I can run to gather further information. Thanks very much for any help you can provide. Your assistance is greatly appreciated! All the best, Mark

did you associated xbox dongle with gamepads ? you have sync buttons on each, press them and wait any secondes

I am ashamed to post this, but you deserve a follow up. The batteries were inserted incorrectly in the XBOX controller. In my defense, they have the little "springs" both on one side, which almost always indicates that the flat (negative) side goes there. Of course, there was also a diagram printed on the battery pack which showed the correct orientation, but let's not talk about that. Never did find out what the problem with the PS3 controller was. I'm sure it's something equally stupid. But in any case, as long as I have one controller working, I should be good to go. Thanks very much for your assistance. Mark

Hi, you can also try to reset the Dualshock 3 and try again the pairing process.

Hi, I have the same problem with official DS3 controller, and have no other controllers to fall back on. I actually have two DS3 controllers (one black and one silver) neither work. Here is the output from the dmesg command:
