Solved Qualità grafica PSX
-
Hi there! Another question about PSX games: I played "Twisted Metal" and "Twisted Metal 2" and it seems that the graphic quality can't be compared with that of the same game played on the console (sorry for my english). Is it just a compatibility of the specific game with the psx-emulator? I play wiath a rpi3 on a 55" Led TV. Tried to alternate the default emulator with libretro without noticing any differences.

@Enrico-Rossetto
many people have the same feeling and the answer is always the same :if you compare with your memories of the same game played on the console rather than really with the same game played on the console, check your memories
psx games were ugly, but old tvs masked a little bit of the ugliness
-
@voljega thanks, I had the same feeling, but my wife didn't! Then i doubted of my feelings because while scraping psx games I saw good pictures!
Thank you and sorry about the dumb question
-
@Enrico-Rossetto no prob, everyone is dumbfounded by that one, first 3d games were such a novelty that we totally forgot how the first ones were ugly !
-
A game that enjoyed a lot of the psx was medievil, but if you watch the graphics it gives you disgust. But it's still fun.
Road rash even is a super rough graphics, but it's also fun, it's all about our memory and look like I was enjoying 3DO more (laughs)
Try using the shaders, scanlines to see what your memory approaches, even though I hate it.
Another detail: the larger the TV, the greater the pixelization, although by default the majority runs at 720p (bursting)

@azvarel Thank you. It is maybe possible to run games at a lower resolution or perhaps a "windowed mode" (to use a "pc" definition)? Personally I enjoy Megadrive/Genesis games a lot (my first love) and they look pretty good even by hig resolution. My wife loves the Resident Evil saga very much (and Twisted Metal too), so I started collecting PSX games in recalbox

@Enrico-Rossetto I forgot to mention that there's a core parameter for psx in retroarch called enhanced resolution which.... wait for it.... enhances resolution ! But on Pi3 without overclocking, games are then lagging... maybe it works better on 4.1 with overclocking.
PSX is the only console for which I totally deactivated shaders & scanlines it's better without it
-
@voljega so I have to wait the next release Why is overclocking in Pi3 disabled?
-
@Enrico-Rossetto It's not disabled it wasn't available through the menu yet.
It was available because the Pi3 heat goes up a lot more than pi2 and so overclocking is ore unstable and random than on previous model....
-
@voljega RPi3 is a hot guy I bought an aluminium case with 2 heath sinks but cannot go under 53 celsius with kodi in standby... Bought a RPi3 because of the better dreamcast compatibility
-
Where i can find this parameter?

@Enrico-Rossetto in retroarch core options for psx
-
@voljega If I understand: start a PSX game, then open the retroarch option and modify the parameter. This change then is applied for all psx game
-
@Enrico-Rossetto yes for core options... but you'll see that games are lagging after that so you 'll likely turn it off like me
